So Grateful!

Everyone came to see little Kaya may in the hospital! She had so many visitors we couldn't fit them all in my room! At one point my entire family was in the room! As I looked around, I was so grateful for all of them and that Kaya has so many people that love her!

I was especially grateful that my mom was here to see her born. My mom came into the delivery room right after Kaya came and it was so neat to see my mom with her. I never dreamed that my mom would be alive to see my kids. With how sick she has been and how many times I have thought she wouldn't make it through the night, I am SO grateful she is still here and was able to hold our little girl!

Jordan During Labor

Jordan was absolutely incredible during labor! He was so supportive, happy, and positive. He never left my side and gave me words of motivation and encouragement the entire time! I never could have done it without him! Actually, the only time I panicked during labor was when he walked away from the side of the bed to get me water and he wasn't touching me. I had to have him touching me during the entire labor. It was so interesting to me. It made me feel safe and stronger.

Jordan caught Kaya when she came which was a neat experience. He then went with her as the nurses weighed her and cleaned her up. Once she was here, Jordan never left her. He gave her her first bath and got her all cleaned up and then brought her to me in our room. He was exhausted but so happy he was smiling from ear to ear. I have never seen that side of him.

Kaya May Davis

Kaya May Davis was born on Father's Day, June 19th, 2011! I went into labor around 2 am, Saturday night, June 18th. I fell asleep on the couch while watching a movie with Jordan, like always. Jordan woke me up around 1:30 am and I started having cramps....which got more intense over time, helping me to see that I was actually having contractions. I tried going to sleep and watching a movie in bed, but the contractions got stronger pretty quickly. By 4:30 am I was ready to go to the hospital. Jordan called the midwives and let them know we were on the way. We left for American Fork Hospital and arrived a little before 5:00 am.

In the triage room, the nurse checked me and informed us that I was already at a 6, almost a 7. They quickly got us a room, where we settled in and I decided to get into the Jacuzzi tub. I relaxed in the tub for almost 2 hours, listening to the Rainbow Relaxation cd I have been listening to for almost 3 months. I was so grateful for my preparation in that moment because as soon as I turned on the cd, my body instantly relaxed and I fell asleep for quite a while.

After about 2 hours in the tub, I woke up feeling like I needed to get out. I got out of the tub and got on the bed. Going over to the bed, I quickly became exhausted, more tired than I had ever been in my life! ha ha I got into the bed and worked through each contraction one at a time. Jordan stayed by my side the entire time, giving me words of encouragement. He was so excited!

I will never forget Jordan near the end of labor. He was so excited. He kept looking at me and saying, "Kell, you are doing it! Keep going. She is almost here!" He really was an incredible support!

It came time to push and within a half hour of pushing our little Kaya May was here! Jordan caught her, helped clean her up, and then they immediately gave her to me, where she stayed for the next hour!

After our time, they took her to get cleaned up. Jordan never left her side. Wherever they took Kaya, Jordan went. He bathed her, held her, cleaned her up, and then brought her back to me in our room.

It was so incredible to see our little girl and to hold her for the first time! I remember thinking that I was very glad I was done and that I was so happy I was holding her. She was absolutely beautiful! 7 lbs 8.2 oz, born at 8:17 am. Labor was only about 6 hours and honestly was a beautiful experience!

After one day in the hospital we were feeling great and ready to take our girl home! It was beautiful that evening as we drove our new baby girl home to Saratoga Springs.

A lot of people thought I was crazy to want to have a natural birth, but I loved it! It was hard and takes preparation but it was so worth it! It was absolutely beautiful and one of the most incredible and spiritual moments of our lives!
