Adobe Halloween

This year for Halloween we went to Jordan's work for their huge company party. It was quite the experience! The company spends days transforming their office spaces into different phases or lands for the party. From Alice and Wonderland to Harry Potter land it was pretty amazing! It was really fun to walk through with Jordan and our little Kaya May!

Kaya, our little dinosaur!

Cute Beckham came to enjoy the party with us! That is one cute monkey!

Sushi

Jordan, Kaya, and I all went and got sushi this past week. I have been wanting to have some good sushi since I had Kaya and man was it great! Jordan loved taking his girls to get sushi. I can't wait to try it in Japan in March!

Pumpkin Picking in Genola

Kaya picked her first pumpkin yesterday at G & G Davis's. It was so fun to be able to go out to Grandpa's farm and look through all the pumpkins he had grown. It reminded me of when I was a kid. My parents would take us all to a huge pumpkin patch and we could pick out any pumpkin we wanted. I LOVED it! Nowadays you can't find many pumpkin patches. But, thanks to Grandpa Davis, we all had a great time!

Daddy's Girl

Ever since Kaya was born she has had a special love for her dad. Whenever Jordan looks at her, she immediately gets a huge ear-to-ear grin. Jordan is the only one, currently, who can make Kaya laugh super hard. It makes me so happy! Check out the two peas in a pod.

Kaya the Pooper

Ever since Kaya was born she could really poop! Usually a baby has one, or a few huge poop stories, embarrassing stories for the parents to remember forever. Well, Kaya has about 20 or more huge poop stories! Check out a few of them....

Nordstroms: Kaya was only about 6 weeks old when we went shopping at Nordstroms. My mom and sister Hayley were there and we were really enjoying ourselves. It was time for Kaya to eat so we kindly asked if I could use a dressing room to feed her. A very nice worker showed us a nice room where I could quietly feed Kaya. While feeding, Kaya began to unload. Pretty soon she had poop all up her back, all the way up to the back of her neck. To make it worse, the leather bench we were sitting on was covered in poop. Kaya had pooped all over everything! Not Nordstroms Kaya! Not Nordstroms! I don't think Kaya really understood that we were on hallowed ground. :)

The Bees Baseball Game: Kaya was about 8 weeks old. The University of Utah MBA program gave us free tickets to a Bees game in July. We went for family night, had dinner, got to our seats, were watching the game, and then I fed Kaya. While feeding, Kaya began unloading, AGAIN! So, I am sitting in public with poop all over my pants. Kaya is covered in poop and crying. To make it even better I hear, "Kelly?!" An old friend that I hadn't seen in years just spotted me. She asks me how I have been, admires Kaya, not realizing that we are both covered in poop. I politely talk with her for a minute. Luckily she was in a hurry and had to go after a few minutes. I then got up and got Kaya and I cleaned up. But, once again, Kaya had a change of clothes, but I didn't. Oh man....good times!

The Post Office: Kaya was about 2 months old. We went to the post office to get Kaya's passport, because we are going to Japan in March, and man did she do a number. We were finishing up paperwork when I look over at Jordan, holding Kaya and he is covered in green poop. She had literally shot all of her poo out of her diaper and clothes and it was all over him. The poop covered the front of Jordan and the post office floor. Jordan's face was priceless. The man in line after us just looked at us, not amused. Jordan and I were laughing hysterically. How Kaya was able to poop so much, all over everything, was beyond us! It really was a great moment; one we will never forget.

Thanksgiving Point/The Dinosaur Museum: Kaya was a little over 2 months old. Jordan took a day off of work in August to spend with Kaya and I because he was starting masters school at the University of Utah that week. We decided to take Kaya to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point! We were having a great time until Kaya had to eat. Once again, she began to eat and unload. Within seconds poop was out of her diaper and clothes, and onto my pants. I was covered in yellow poo! Kaya had a change of clothes, but I didn't! Aaah! Gotta love it!

Sushi Ya: Just this week Kaya and I went and met Jordan for lunch. We decided to go to Sushi Ya, for all-you-can-eat sushi. The sushi was great and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Jordan was taking care of the check while I went out to the car to feed Kaya. While eating Kaya began to unload, which ended with poop all up her back and side. Jordan came out, saw what happened, and just started to laugh. Kaya strikes again!

These are just a few of the many poop explosions of our dear little Kaya. I think the post office takes the cake! She does poop at home, but it seems that the worst pooping is always when we are out. Jordan and I just laugh and enjoy the moment. These moments have made for great memories, which we will never forget!

Morning

Kaya has gone through different phases of when she wakes up in the morning. When she was first born she would wake up and make tons of crazy, goofy faces. She would be staring off and then all of a sudden pucker her lips into a circle, which we called "Blue Steal". She would make so many faces, as if she was learning how to use her face! So funny!

Kaya then went into the excited phase when she would first wake up in the morning. She would get so excited that she would move her arms up and down like crazy! She would kick her legs so fast and pretty soon her entire body would be almost bouncing. Hilarious!

Now when she wakes up she smiles so big and just coos and talks to us! She is so happy to be awake and tell us all about her dreams! She coos and talks for quite a while!

I love our girl first thing in the morning! :)

A Learning Process

Having a baby is definitely a learning process. She is so stinking cute but we have no idea what we are doing. We are figuring it out but it is tough.

She got gas really bad for a few days and just cried and cried. We didn't know what was wrong and then finally figured it out. Once we figured it out we figured out how to help the poor girl. We push her little legs up to her stomach and she will fart like crazy. We only had to do it a few times, for a couple weeks and now she can fart on her own. :)

A few days after we figured out that Kaya had bad gas, she was still crying a lot. I could not figure out what was wrong but though she might have acid reflux because she wouldn't eat very well. After a full day of not eating, which is not like Kaya, I took her to the pediatrician. Poor Kaya had a really bad ear infection!

Now that Kaya is gas and infection free she is an incredibly happy baby! She smiles and coos and is so much fun! I now know her different cries and what she needs, which is very comforting. We are starting to get the hang of this...but I am sure we will get thrown another curve ball soon. :) ha

PMBA at the University of Utah

Jordan started Masters school yesterday at the U and I must admit that I already miss him. He drove off last night to go to school and my heart broke. He will only be gone twice a week at night but it is hard to not have him at home. I need to remember that this is great for our family and that I would rather him be gone now than when Kaya is 3 or 4 or we have more kids. I'm grateful for his hard work and how he takes care of us!

Kaya's Blessing Day

Kaya was blessed today! It was so incredible to hear Jordan bless our little girl. This has been a day that I have been waiting for for years. The blessing was so heartfelt and loving. Kaya cried through most of it, but it was still neat.

Kaya was blessed that she will never been alone. She was reminded that she was loved very much. She was told that the day would come that she would choose to be baptized. I thought it was interesting that it focused on her choice. The blessing talked about her marrying in the temple and so many other beautiful things.

My mom made Kaya's blessing dress, out of my wedding dress. It means so much to me that Kaya wore a dress that her Grandma made. It was absolutely gorgeous and Kaya looked like a princess!

Another great thing about Kaya's blessing day was how many people were in the circle to bless her. He grandpas, great grandpas, and uncles all were able to stand in the circle with Jordan. It really was a great day!

24th of July

Kaya's first 24th of July consisted of lighting snakes and tanks on our front porch. It was a blast! I think spending money on fireworks is crazy! I feel like you are literally burning money, I can't do it! Jordan feels the same, which is great, but we both love snakes and tanks. ha ha Call us lame, but it was fun!

Kaya seemed to enjoy herself for a little while and then got bored and just cried. Overall, a good time! It is fun doing things with our little family!

Coolest 4th of July Ever!

Jordan, Kaya, and I went out to Genola for the 4th of July and spent time with everyone! It is always fun to see everybody and play! We left around 10 pm and drove home around the west side of Utah Lake. I fell asleep in the car, like always, but Jordan woke me. "Kell you have to see this!" I look across the lake and there are literally hundreds of fireworks going off. We can see fireworks all the way from Provo to Lehi. Fireworks reflecting off the lake, some big, some small, all different. It was incredible! We watching probably 10-20 different firework shows at once while driving home! It was beautiful!

So Grateful!

Everyone came to see little Kaya may in the hospital! She had so many visitors we couldn't fit them all in my room! At one point my entire family was in the room! As I looked around, I was so grateful for all of them and that Kaya has so many people that love her!

I was especially grateful that my mom was here to see her born. My mom came into the delivery room right after Kaya came and it was so neat to see my mom with her. I never dreamed that my mom would be alive to see my kids. With how sick she has been and how many times I have thought she wouldn't make it through the night, I am SO grateful she is still here and was able to hold our little girl!

Jordan During Labor

Jordan was absolutely incredible during labor! He was so supportive, happy, and positive. He never left my side and gave me words of motivation and encouragement the entire time! I never could have done it without him! Actually, the only time I panicked during labor was when he walked away from the side of the bed to get me water and he wasn't touching me. I had to have him touching me during the entire labor. It was so interesting to me. It made me feel safe and stronger.

Jordan caught Kaya when she came which was a neat experience. He then went with her as the nurses weighed her and cleaned her up. Once she was here, Jordan never left her. He gave her her first bath and got her all cleaned up and then brought her to me in our room. He was exhausted but so happy he was smiling from ear to ear. I have never seen that side of him.

Kaya May Davis

Kaya May Davis was born on Father's Day, June 19th, 2011! I went into labor around 2 am, Saturday night, June 18th. I fell asleep on the couch while watching a movie with Jordan, like always. Jordan woke me up around 1:30 am and I started having cramps....which got more intense over time, helping me to see that I was actually having contractions. I tried going to sleep and watching a movie in bed, but the contractions got stronger pretty quickly. By 4:30 am I was ready to go to the hospital. Jordan called the midwives and let them know we were on the way. We left for American Fork Hospital and arrived a little before 5:00 am.

In the triage room, the nurse checked me and informed us that I was already at a 6, almost a 7. They quickly got us a room, where we settled in and I decided to get into the Jacuzzi tub. I relaxed in the tub for almost 2 hours, listening to the Rainbow Relaxation cd I have been listening to for almost 3 months. I was so grateful for my preparation in that moment because as soon as I turned on the cd, my body instantly relaxed and I fell asleep for quite a while.

After about 2 hours in the tub, I woke up feeling like I needed to get out. I got out of the tub and got on the bed. Going over to the bed, I quickly became exhausted, more tired than I had ever been in my life! ha ha I got into the bed and worked through each contraction one at a time. Jordan stayed by my side the entire time, giving me words of encouragement. He was so excited!

I will never forget Jordan near the end of labor. He was so excited. He kept looking at me and saying, "Kell, you are doing it! Keep going. She is almost here!" He really was an incredible support!

It came time to push and within a half hour of pushing our little Kaya May was here! Jordan caught her, helped clean her up, and then they immediately gave her to me, where she stayed for the next hour!

After our time, they took her to get cleaned up. Jordan never left her side. Wherever they took Kaya, Jordan went. He bathed her, held her, cleaned her up, and then brought her back to me in our room.

It was so incredible to see our little girl and to hold her for the first time! I remember thinking that I was very glad I was done and that I was so happy I was holding her. She was absolutely beautiful! 7 lbs 8.2 oz, born at 8:17 am. Labor was only about 6 hours and honestly was a beautiful experience!

After one day in the hospital we were feeling great and ready to take our girl home! It was beautiful that evening as we drove our new baby girl home to Saratoga Springs.

A lot of people thought I was crazy to want to have a natural birth, but I loved it! It was hard and takes preparation but it was so worth it! It was absolutely beautiful and one of the most incredible and spiritual moments of our lives!

2 Years

Jordan and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary yesterday! I can't believe how fast time flies, I really feel like we just got married a few months ago. Jordan and I met for the first time a little less than 6 years ago, and I am SO grateful for God's timing. Lately, I am so grateful for how God well God knows us and how He really does take care of us. The past two years really have been the best two years of my life, mainly due to Jordan. He is the best decision I ever made!

For our anniversary we went away for the weekend to Homestead Resort in Midway. My company, OrangeSoda, gave me a free night stay up there and needless to say it was beautiful! It was so nice to get away and relax!

With a little girl on the way, 2 years married to one incredible man, a beautiful home purchased this year, great jobs, and so much in the future, man have we been blessed! I really couldn't ask for more!

Favorite Things....

These past weeks I have grown very anxious, really wanting to have this little girl. I thought more than anything I wanted to go into labor so I could finally hold my little girl. However, I have realized that I am really going to miss having her so close to me, feeling her everyday. I feel like my relationship with her is so special, and that I already know her so well. I love to be sleeping and all of a sudden be woken up to Kaya kicking so hard, as if she is saying, "Hey mom"! I love how recently she gets the hiccups and that I can feel her hiccup inside. I love how she only kicks on my right side, which I still can't figure out. She kicks so hard that my stomach becomes very oddly shaped and I immediately feel her strong leg. This girl has one mean kick! All in all, I am going to miss having her inside, feeling her everyday. It will be so fun to hold little Kaya, but I am going to miss these....my favorite things.

Motivation and Excitement

A good friend/co-worker today told me about a woman who has 3 kids and is an incredible runner! She has ran several marathons, half marathons, relays, etc and still takes care of three kids. She runs with her kids/the jogging stroller. This woman is incredible!

I love when I hear about women who still run after having kids. It is so motivating and exciting to me! I love to run! It is a big part of who I am. It keeps me sane. It is a stress reliever. I have learned that I am happier, more pleasant to be around, and that I overall feel better about myself when I am running on a consistent basis.

I guess what I am saying is, way to go moms that take time to run! Even more, way to take time to go outside with your kids and to be healthy!

Little Kaya and I run almost everyday together and I love that time! It is time to enjoy working out but even more, to do something together. I feel like she learns about a part of who I am and it is a real bonding time for us. She isn't even born yet, but I really love our running time together! And...I think she likes it too! :)

So Excited!

I am almost 34 weeks now and Kaya is really starting to get big! She moves like crazy and I really feel like I know her. I feel like I know her little personality. She kicks so much! I feel like she is saying, "Mom, I want to come out and play now!"

I cannot even begin to put into words how excited I am to see our little girl. Every day I think, 'I just want to go into labor and have her now'! Then I remember that I want her to be healthy and that she needs at least a few more weeks before she comes out. :)

Jordan frequently says, "Kell, why won't she come out and play with us?". Needless to say he is very very excited! It is so fun to see him get so excited for our little girl.

So to you Kaya, we can't wait to see you! We love you so much already and can't wait to have you as a part of our lives!

Breathing and Relaxation Class

Jordan and I went to a breathing and relaxation class last night. It was an incredible class, taught by a woman who had given birth to six children without an epidural. She went into breathing techniques, and how to best relax during labor. It was so good for Jordan and I to learn about different resources that we can use when I am in labor. The class further helped me solidify my decision to have a natural birth. I have not felt comfortable and good about getting an epidural from the beginning and this class really helped me to see more reasons why I do not want an epidural.

If you have an epidural during labor you are unable to get out of your bed. So, you can't use a birthing ball, hydrotherapy, get up to use the bathroom, walk around, etc. I want to be able to be mobile and use natural techniques during labor.

In the class we practiced different breathing techniques, tried the birthing ball, listened to a relaxation story, and watched videos of women who used all the techniques discussed in the class. It was incredible and really made me excited for labor! Labor should be a memorable time not a horrible experience.

The best part of the class was Jordan. He was an incredible! He was so focused and tried everything the teacher instructed. He was a great support partner! I am so blessed to have such a loving husband who cares about being able to help me during labor.

Baby Shower

Today I drove up to my Mom's for Kaya's baby shower. As I drove up to the house I saw my mom outside, putting pink bows on the railings of the front porch. She saw me and immediately started jumping up and down with excitement! I felt like time froze for a moment, as I began thinking of how I never thought my mom would be here to see my kids. With how sick she has been in the past, I am so grateful she is here and that she will be able to see little Kaya. I almost began to cry as I watched her jump up and down outside in excitement. Oh how I love my mom! She is so excited, more than can be put into words.

The wedding shower was a blast! A lot of people showed up: some of my cousins, Amanda Johansen, Belinda Kuck, Broughs, Gardners, Curtis', Chuggs, Grandma Adams, Grandma Hill, Aunt Mary, and a few more. Everyone was so sweet and bought Kaya some great gifts, that she will definitely need. I am so grateful for good friends!

Also, my mom, dad, grandma and grandpa Hollabaugh, and all my siblings went in together and bought Kaya's stroller and car seat. It was so fun to get the car seat! It made having a baby more real! I have already put the car seat in the Rav4. It makes me so happy to look back and see the car seat that will soon hold little Kaya. :)

Prenatal Class- 30 Weeks

Today Jordan and I went to a prenatal class at the hospital. It was an all day class that went over everything from why I am so uncomfortable to epidurals to the actual birthing process. This was a great learning experience and quite hilarious! The class really helped me realize that I am having baby! My brain went from "Oh fun we are having a little girl" to "Holy crap, we are having a baby"! It was really good for me to come to reality a little more.

The class ended with a video of several births. You see a birthing video in health class in junior high and high school but it doesn't really seem to hit home. However, this time.......IT HIT HOME! It made me so excited to have our baby and made me realize a little more of what I really have to do. Aah! Again, "holy cow we are having a baby"!

It was also great to look over and see Jordan's face. He looked somewhat glazed over....I think it hit him that his wife would be doing what the women on the video were doing. Great moment! :)

Overall, it was good for Jordan and I to learn more about the process and realize the very important road ahead.

27 Weeks

One more week down and I am feeling bigger and bigger everyday! Little Kaya is super active and likes to kick me like crazy while at work. It is so neat to be able to really feel her move. There really is a little person in there.

The baby room is coming together and gets me more excited everyday! Now we just need our little girl! Jordan asks frequently, "Can she come out and play with us now"? I explain that she is still much too small and quite frankly would look a little scary if she came out now. ha ha JK

26 Weeks

So I haven't posted any pictures yet of my baby bump but now it has turned into a baby belly! :) I am feeling great and getting bigger by the minute! Are the doctors sure that there isn't two babies in there.....hum.

24 Weeks

I am 24 weeks today and feel little Kaya kicking every day! She started kicking consistently this past week. I work all day, eat dinner, and then lay down for the evening for mommy-daughter time. After a few minutes of resting Kaya will start kicking like crazy! It has become the best part of my day! It is like she is talking to me. :)

Today Jordan put his head on my stomach, trying to listen to little Kaya, when Jordan got a kick in the head! Hee hee, little Kaya kicked dad hard! She already has the Hill/Davis spunk! I love it!

We can't wait for our little girl to get here!

BabyMoon in NYC

Jordan and I decided to take one last vacation together before the baby was born. We went out to NYC to see my sister Jenn, brother-in-law Stephen, and their little girl, Arden. It was a blast!

Jordan played his guitar in Washington Square Park, we shopped in SOHO, visited the Museum of Natural History and we ate just about everything imaginable; pastries, hot dogs, NY pizza, candy, chinese food, etc. Oh how I loved eating my way through New York!

It was so fun to spend time with Jenn, Stephen, and of course....Arden! She made us want our little girl even more! Also, we were able to meet up with Noah and Allison Riley. It was so fun to spend time with them in the city!

We also went and visited the NYC temple. It is incredible to see the temple right in the middle of such a busy city! It is literally right in the middle of everything!

Overall, it was fun to just spend time together and run around the city like two kids!

16 Weeks

I am starting to get chubby these days. I am dying to know if we are having a boy or a girl, mainly because I want to really start shopping. Also, I think the baby will become or feel more real once we know what the gender is. Time needs to speed up, just for a while. :)

Monday, January 31, 2011

20 Weeks

We went to the doctor to find out if we were having a girl or a boy today. We thought for sure we were having a little boy, considering we have been calling the little thing Ace for quite some time now. :) But....we are having a little girl! Jordan and I were both a little taken back but are very excited about a little girl coming into our family!

Our New Home

We bought our first house! It was quite the process but we did it! We are so excited to be in our own home. Honestly, we feel like we are playing house and that the grown ups are going to come home eventually and tell us to go home. ha ha We really feel spoiled.

We had a house warming party with our family which was so fun! It was nice to have everyone over and fill our home with the people we love most! It will be the best though when we bring home our little baby!
